"In both healthcare and community settings, Certified Child Life Specialists help infants, children, youth and families cope with the stress and uncertainty of acute and chronic illness, injury, trauma, disability, loss and bereavement. They provide evidence based, developmentally and psychologically appropriate interventions including therapeutic play, preparation for procedures and education to reduce fear, anxiety and pain."

I strive to empower your child and you, as a parent by creating a safe environment designed to provide individualized care and support. I use my knowledge of child development to provide age appropriate support, coping techniques, positive communication/language, education and preparation.  This care and knowledge also extends to the siblings and families, as I recognize and understand that illness and trauma, can impact the entire family. I am also aware of the impact that an adult's health condition can have on a child and how to encourage positive coping by transforming stress.

I have been a Certified Child Life Specialist since 2001 and have had the opportunity to provide services to children facing acute and chronic health conditions, trauma, loss and injury in 4 nationally recognized children's hospitals.  I have been nominated and have received recognition for providing Superior Patient Experiences for the patients and families for whom I provide services.  And as a Mother to a child with a rare health condition, I have a profound understanding of the overwhelming impact illness/significant life event can have on a child and family.  I look forward to providing your child and family with the same exceptional care.
